Coke's double handed Sevilla their fifth Europa League crown after a 3-1 win over Liverpool at St Jakob-Park in Basel.
Liverpool should have had a penalty moments after Sturridge's header was cleared from the line after carrico looked to have handled in the
area as Roberto Firmino looked to touch the ball past him, but Swedish referee Jonas Eriksson waved play on
Daniel Sturridge gave Liverpool the lead 10 minutes before the break in fine fashion, finding the corner of the net with the outside of the boot from just inside the area as the Premier
League side dominated the first half.
But Sevilla were level 18 seconds into the second half through Kevin Gameiro, who slotted home from close range from Mariano's cross. Coke put Sevilla ahead on 64 minutes, curling home superbly from the edge of the box, before the midfielder bagged a second six minutes later after the ball fell kindly to him in the area off the boot of Philippe Coutinho.
The defeat means Liverpool miss the chance of competing in the Champions League next season, and European competition altogether, while Jurgen Klopp remains in search of his first
European trophy. Sevilla, in contrast, secured their third straight Europa League crown and won the competition for a fifth time in the last 10 years.
Klopp said there after that they will definitely learn from this;
"There are more important things in life than football. I don't think God had a plan with me to go to the final and always have bad luck," he said.
"I've had a lot of luck in my life. I sit here as manager of Liverpool. I don't think I am an unlucky person or life has not been good to me.
"I will carry on and I will be in another final - and you'll tell me I lost the last five finals. I will try to reach the next final even when I know I can lose it.
"There are bigger problems in life but at this moment it doesn't feel like it, it is really hard."
It is now confirmed that the two big European trophies I.e the Europa league and the Champions league are heading to Spain yet again for the third consecutive season. Maybe at the moment,it can be said football lives in Spain.
