Stephen Keshi Passes Away Without Illness; Aged 54

Former Nigerian international as well as former Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday in Benin City, Edo state.
The Nigerian icon was scheduled to return to USA on Wednesday evening before he suffered cardiac arrest.
Keshi, having lost his wife of 35-year old last year December 9th,2015 after a long battle with cancer, has suffered since then.
One of his family confirmed his death;
“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a friend said. He is survived by four children and his mother.
Keshi is the only Nigerian to have won the African nations cup both as a player and coach after he won it as a coach at the 2013 edition in South Africa.
The only other person to have achieved the feat is Egypt’s Mahmoud El-Gohary.
Keshi received the award of CON(Commander Of Order Of Niger) from then president of Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonatan after the 2013 tournament.
