FG To Start Paying Ex-militants On Monday

The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (retd), has said ex-Niger Delta militants will start receiving their stipends on Monday.

Boroh consequently appealed to the ex-militants in the region to shelve the planned protests scheduled to hold on Monday.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Head of the Media and Communication Department of the office of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Abuja, Mr. Piriye KeyaramoThe coordinator, who expressed concern over the plight of the ex-agitators in respect of the delay in the payment of their stipends, explained that President Muhammandu Buhari appreciated their patience and the challenges were being addressed.

The statement read in part, “President Buhari attaches so much importance to the Amnesty Programme, which explains why the President in his inaugural address to the nation specifically promised to invest heavily in the projects, and programmes currently in place for the ex-agitators in the region.”

Boroh added that the Federal Government planned to improve the amnesty programme for the benefit of the 30,000 ex-militants and other youths in the region. “President Muhammandu Buhari, is already putting together a youth development and empowerment package that would directly impact the ex-agatators and other youths in the region,” he said. The Friend-Zone- Episode 7

Episode 7

I started creating an "imaginative-video" of how I was going to die on my mind. How big my coffin will be? People that will cry for me & sympathize.

She came back inside with a knife, I was prepared to either die or live if I had the chance.
She then brought out something the Nylon she brought out. It was bread!.She brought out butter too and started making Bread & butter.

I became embarrassed & disappointed. Well, I thanked God she never tried anything funny.
She left afterwards and i was alone in the room once again with my thoughts. I was thinking about that event if it had really been to kill me. I slept off.
I woke up the next morning very early to do the things that needed to be done because I had a 9am class. I left for school immediately I was done.
Bukola came over to my department later in the day. She said she wanted to surprise me. I took her round showing her the beauty of my prestigious department.

We argued & made comparisons about departments. I assumed she won because of the sincerity in her points.
We both went to Kay's Chippy together to get something to eat. I spent close to N2000 there I think.

We both walked back to the department to talk again. Soon we found ourselves discussing about our families.
She broke down to tears many times. She got hurt by the demise of her father. Her father was a successful business tycoon until he had a car accident.
Bukola: The way he treats us, we were his favorite. He buys so many things for us when he is on his way back from his trip. *Breaks down to tears.

Me: Sorry. God will see you through. Sorry dear. It must have been hard for you. Don't worry.... I...w..i..i..ll.. take care of you.

Bukola: Thank you....(she paused).. sweetheart.
I felt a thump in my heart. Is she pulling my heart strings?. I forgot about the whole think since her head was on my chest.
We enjoyed the evening together and left for home. She said she will be coming over to my place tomorrow and I should "stay prepared".
I didn't get what the "prepared" mean. I assumed maybe in hospitality.
The next day as early as a 7am, I heard a knock on the door. Bukola was at my door while I was still dressed in my underwear shorts. I opened the door as she came.
I was awed by her dressing. That was what they call "Seduction". She was putting on a crop top and a mini Jean.
I ran over to the bathroom couple of times when I couldn't resist her. She was smiling. She made breakfast for us while I was cleaning up the room. She admired my tidiness.
I found her irresistible that I almost made a move in kissing her...
The move soon came when I went to the kitchen to check on her. I was imagining her rear.
How lucky would I be?...I moved closer to her without her noticing. She turned and I bent.....!

Toyin Aimakhu Clears Her Name In Scam

Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimahku, has denied allegations connecting her to an alleged fund-raising scam for the operation of Ahmed Mayowa, a lady diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.
Aimahku has in a video gone viral appealed to well meaning Nigerians , in a bid to raise a sum of 100,000 dollars for the treatment of the patient.
Things appeared promising, as donations came in to support the invalid, who was admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
Unfortunately, unconfirmed stories started making the news rounds, accusing Aimahku of being part of an organised fraud.
The actress in an Instagram comment posted on Friday, July 29, 2016, has denied the accusation.

She wrote, “In view of the recent happenings around Mayowa Ahmed’s ill health and the many allegations of fraud surrounding the funds raised, it has become imperative that I come clean by stating my side of the story and by implications, set the record straight.
“When I got wind of Mayowa’s sickness, I was moved to tears and immediately sought to know how I could help, hence my on-the-spot video which went viral as my genuine intervention.
“Indeed, I was overwhelmed by the quick response of well-meaning Nigerians to whom I will forever owe a debt of gratitude. But all this changed yesterday, Thursday 28th, July, when I went to the hospital in the morning to check as well as follow up on Mayowa. Her brother had told everyone to leave them alone because they wanted privacy. Although I was shocked at the sudden change in attitude, especially the tone of communication, I still did not suspect anything was amiss.
“However, on my way out, I received a call from one Aramide Kasumu of Life Stake Foundation, who would later claim the whole Mayowa Ahmed fund raiser was a scam. Importantly, she wanted to know the extent of my involvement and in her words, “so that when they are giving their reports, I would not be roped into it”. She went further to state that the family deceived everyone in the first place by raising funds for Mayowa despite the fact that her case was helpless and the hopes of her survival was near impossible. She seemed to know so much, I reckoned.
“Upon hearing this, I was appalled and in a bid to clear my name, I went back to the hospital in palpable anger and demanded explanations from all concerned. Perhaps, I overreacted when I went into a rage of anger over the matter with the CSO. I then alerted the Police PRO, who invited the parties involved to the police command.
“I want to state for the record that I have never been a fraud and will never partake in one, not even at this stage of my career (which I hold to heart). All my efforts were strictly on humanitarian grounds without recourse to any pecuniary consideration or the resort to cheap fame.
“That said, whatever discomfort my reactions may have cost anyone from any quarters is highly regretted and I take responsibility.
“Whilst I wish Mayowa a quick recovery and divine intervention, I want to urge us as a people to continue to exhibit that enviable Nigerian spirit of compassion and generosity and not because of this isolated case cease to be our sister/brother’s keeper. I love you all and thank you.”
Toyin Aimahku has built a reputation for her unique compassion for the downtrodden in the society.
Her spirit of compassion for the weak and disadvantaged was manifested earlier in 2016, when she showed concern for an actor who wanted to commit suicide.
She was seen in a video appealing to the actor to abandon his intentions, in an ocean of tears.

Phyno has Captured My Heart- Gospel Singer

In an interview with Punch News'
Saturday Beats , Ifudu listed the rapper as one of her favourite Nigerian music stars, alongside Davido, Dare Art-Alade and Asa.
"I like Davido. I think he is amazing. I also like Phyno. He has captured my heart. Dare Art-Alade is awesome… Yes! I would love to work with them, including Asa", she said.
Her admiration for Phyno however does not to seem enough to spur Ifudu in respect to dating, as the singer mentioned that she will like to focus on her music career for the time being.

According to her, men are a distraction that she want to avoid in a bid to drive her profession to the elite class.
"I don’t have a boyfriend and I am not looking for one at the moment. I don’t want unnecessary distractions at this early stage of my career, so I am putting my career before boys."
The singer is the niece of legendary singer, Dora Ifudu, who made a great impression on Nigerian entertainment in the 80's and 90's.

Klopp Dislikes Competitions For Players

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he prefers signing players that are not being pursued by other clubs.

Following a lot of competitions for players in the current transfer window with Liverpool signing players that other clubs are not competing for, the German international says he prefers building a team with unknown players.

Klopp said: "If you all swim in the same pool, the pool is too small - you all go for the same players.
"There are a lot of players outside that pool -good players on to the next step in their career. We try to find them.
"The best player of the last season is good to know but it is more interesting trying to find out who will be the best next year.
"If you knew it now that would be a really cool transfer! It would be much cheaper too. That is what we work for.
"It is not about being creative because creative is cool or something. It is about finding the players who can make the next step with us."

Jurgen Klopp Doesn't Buy The Idea Of £100m Signing

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he will never sign a player for £100m.

The former Dortmund boss has been active in the current transfer window signing players which also includes former Southampton star Saido Mane.

However, following Manchester United's £100m bid for Paul Pogba, a deal which will likely be confirmed in coming days, Klopp says the deal might not worth it and he will never go into a business like that.

"If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney," Klopp said.
"The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore, because the game is about playing together.
"That is how everybody in football understands it. You always want to have the best, but building the group is necessary to be successful.
"Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money.
"I don't know exactly how much money we could spend because nobody has told me, 'No, you can't do this'.
"If I spend money, it is because I am trying to build a team, a real team. Barcelona did it. You can win championships, you can win titles, but
there is a manner in which you want it."

Five Working Days Might Later Turns Three Working Days For Imo State Workers

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that he is considering reducing the number of work days in the state from five to three, to enable the government cut salaries.
He said the reduction of workdays would enable workers to attend to other activities that would generate money to supplement their monthly salaries to take care of their families.
He said that in spite of the current payment of 70 percent of salaries to workers, the state still paid the highest salary scale among South-Eastern states of Abia, Anabmbra, Ebonyi and Enugu.
“Directors in these other South-Eastern states receive something a little above N90, 000 while in Imo they receive more than N100, 000.
“We intend to clear salary arrears up to July by next week. After that, we will consider downward review of salary to workers to be at par with other states of South-East,’’ he said.

The Sorry State Of Social Media Platforms - Ify Chuks(Jnr)

The Sorry State Of Social Media Platforms

Ardent & active users of the internet will agree with me that most social media platforms have been agog with illicit pictorial activities for the past few years.

Pictures ranging from showcasing sensitive parts of the body engraved in clothing materials which actually presents that "part" as something delectable to perverts, to knowingly displaying the sensitive raw parts to the outside world.

What actually is the reason behind this motive? I guess that is a rhetorical question which demands an answer of its kind.
The painful part of this issue is as a result of most teenagers and youths imitating celebrities and models who are not worth looking up to.
Looking critically at this social ill would eduacate one on the fact that there is actually no gain in indulging in such. It instead portrays one as someone who has issues with improving one's self-esteem.

These days, fraudsters have resorted to using this opportunity as a means to reaching out to users of these known media platforms who are susceptible to any signal from a lady/guy of the opposite sex.

These fraudsters have a gallery of such pictures, wherein they extract the suitable one which befits the occasion.

Curbing this online ill is actually an herculean task which might resort in failure, if it is embarked on by an individual or a small percentage of individuals who might not account up to 1.0% of the world's population of internet users.

Owners of these social media platforms should intensify terms & policies set down for their platforms and ensure that they're followed to the letter.

There are porn sites available for those who need them. Seeing raunchy pictures on a social media platform could endanger a sane mind.

"You are out if you are overweight ": Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says any of his players who is too overweight should be on his way out.

The former Barcelona boss who took over from Manuel Pellegrini has  also banned pizza and some drinks in his squad as revealed by left back Gael Clichy.

However, the Spaniard has denied the news that some players returned to pre-season overweight, but explained his concerns that anyone short of peak condition will risk injury.

"They were not overweight but I want my players fit," he said
"For me, the weight is so, so important. We need to run, to fight, to jump – to have the ball. After three days, then another three days, then another three days.

"When you are not fit and [your] weight is not proper, danger is coming. They are not fast enough - that's why I want my players to be absolutely fit."

Man Rapes Church Member After Her Birthday Party

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, identified only as Damilola, for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman on Omole Estate, in the Ojodu area of the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim, Favour (pseudonym) and Damilola were members of a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and the woman had invited the suspect to her birthday party on Tuesday, July 19.

Favour, a National Diploma holder and fashion designer, was allegedly told by the suspect five days after the birthday party that he had a surprise gift for herThe two were said to have gone to Damilola’s apartment on Otubor Street on Omole Estate. Our correspondent gathered that the suspect raped the victim in his room.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Favour reported the matter at the Ojodu Police Division and Damilola was arrested. The incident was also reported at the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Alausa.
A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that Damilola had failed to show up at the victim’s birthday party and allegedly lured her to his house a week later. She said, “Damilola and the lady were church friends. The lady had her birthday on Tuesday, July 19, and she invited all youths in the church who were her friends.

Damilola, however, did not come. He, thereafter, called her to apologise and promised to make it up. “On the following Sunday, Damilola called her that he had set up a makeup party and that the two were going to a restaurant.

However, he took her to his house in the estate, and locked her up. He beat her up and raped her. “When the lady regained her freedom, she reported the matter at the police station.

On Monday, she, accompanied by other church youth executive, went to the DSVRT office in Alausa to make another report.” The DSVRT Coordinator, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the victim had been taken for medical tests.

She said, “The suspect allegedly gave the victim multiple slaps and instructed her to pull off her dress. She was crying and begging. The victim later gave in and Damilola raped her. “The DPP has requested the duplicate case file.

The victim has been referred to the Mirabel Centre, Ikeja, for necessary tests. The suspect has yet to get a full-time job. He is into entertainment business.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest, adding that the matter had been transferred to the police gender unit. Family Insists #SaveMayowa Is No Scam Amid Controversy

The family of Mayowa Ahmed has denied claims its fund raiser to fly the University of Lagos graduate abroad for cancer surgery was not a scam.

The family had raised $100,847 via crowdfunding site gofundme.com, backed by popular Nigerians, including actress Toyin Aimakhu.

Additional donations, reportedly running into millions were also received via a bank account provided by her family. However, on Thursday, Blogger Linda Ikeji reported that the #SaveMayowa campaign was a scam, sparking controversy on the social media

According to the LIB report, actress Toyin Aimakhu, who played a major role in soliciting funds, had reported the family to the police. It also claimed that doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital had said that they refused to give the family a referral for treatment abroad as no hospital could save her.

The report divided Nigerians on the social media with some expressing anger and disgust at the family and othersa criticising the blogger and LUTH for insinuating that the family shouldn’t have pursued further treatment after being informed Mayowa’s cancer was at stage 4.

Amid the controversy, the family issued a statement, insisting that they did not deceive Nigerians and that they had contacted hospitals abroad and were concluding arrangements to fly her abroad for treatment as planned.

In the statement, the Ahmed family explained that it had also contacted Flying Doctors to fly Mayowa to Dubai for treatment, while providing evidence of correspondence with a hospital abroad.

The Friend-Zone- Episode 5

Episode 5

I woke up and found myself somewhere I didn't belong. I was on a bed. It took me seconds before I could clearly see who was standing right in front of me.

Bukola was standing right in front of me smiling. Beside her was Charx. Keji was admitted in the next ward.

Bukola: How are you feeling now?

Me: I...a..m..m fine. How did I get h..e..e..r..e?
She explained to me what happened. She said Night Guards were passing through the area where we were robbed and saw us unconscious on the floor.
They rushed us to the health center immediately and had to call friends when they were asked to fill forms based on the relationship.
She said she happened to be with Charx that night so they rushed down immediately.
I was discharged later in the afternoon while Keji was still receiving treatments.

Bukola took me to her hostel and made me lunch & dinner. She even asked if I'll stay the night so that I could take care of myself and to prevent what happened the previous night. I disagreed. I told I would be fine.

I agreed later after much persuasion. Her roommate had to excuse us. I found myself in a room with a girl I don't have any relationship with except for friendship.

It was past 10, she told me she'll love to go get a shower after taking my medicine. She asked me to help remove the straps of her brazier.

I became more scared that I wanted to leave but it was too late. I hesitated for some while until I did it with my eyes closed.

She then went ahead to the bathroom still putting on her clothe. I was reciting Psalm 23 in my mind.

She came back after 20minutes with towels on. I was lying down now pretending to be asleep. She did all she had to do then switched off the light to sleep.

I soon slept off after thinking of what could possibly happen at midnight...

It was past 2am when I had footsteps round the room....
I woke up having heard the footsteps. Bukola was coming closer to me. She placed her hands on my neck. She was checking my temperature.
She gave a bright smile.

Bukola: You're feeling better now dear

Me: Really?..thanks dear
She was talking to me when her phone rang. I was surprised. A midnight call!
I was wondering who it was. She picked up the call after grumbling.

Bukola: Hello Sir.... Okay sir... I need to pass this course sir....... My parents would be highly embarrassed..... I can't do it sir....... Please sir..... I'll see you tomorrow sir..... Good bye sir.....
I questioned her about the late night caller... She said it was nothing.... I knew it would be a lecturer demanding something from her by her replies.
I decided to keep quiet and we both went back to sleep.
I woke up 10am having perceived a nice aroma. She made me Jollof Rice topped with Fish, Egg & Dodo.
Me: Bukola, this is too much!...
Bukola: Yes I know dear...u have to eat and gain strength.
Me: Thanks dear
I ate and drank a cold juice. I spent 15 minutes more @ her place before I decided to leave.
As I was stepping out, I met Charx by the door!..................

Days Of Promise Card

*UNCLE COME AND PROMISE ME.*

I remember those childhood days of mine when the use of “promise cards” invaded the community. Close to the end of the year (between the months of October and December), we’d buy theses cards, which costs about five naira or so, and give it to our elder relatives and siblings. With smiles on our face, we’ll say “Uncle (or Aunty, as the case may be) come and promise me”.

Promise cards were cards containing a list of items that we’ll like to have or that we’ll like people to buy for us, including a column for the name of the person who is promising and the date he or she would fulfill it.
I wonder what on earth inspired or initiated this idea in whoever first produced these “promise cards”, because it was really widespread among children of those days.

If any individual happened to choose an item which he/she promises to buy for us at a stipulated time, we would always remind that individual; “Uncle (or Aunty), don’t forget your promise ooooo”. Some lads would go to the extent of reminding the individual everyday or every time they set their eyes on him/her, just to make sure they don’t forget to fulfill their promises in due course.

Peradventure coincidentally, the stipulated time of promise elapses, and we have not heard from our Uncle or Aunty, we become troubled and sad; asking everyone; “where is Uncle A, or Aunty B?” And when we eventually see the individual, with tearful eyes, we ask for our promise again, stating that the time they frame had elapsed. If that individual was kind enough, he’ll buy it for us; if not, he’ll postpone it again.
Immediately that individual fulfils his promise, we’d leap with great joy, smiling and laughing as these words would come out of our mouths; “Uncle or Aunty, thank you”.

After that, we’d go to our promise cards and cancel the individual’s name signifying that the promise has been fulfilled.

From then henceforth, we’d begin to have this love and attraction for this individual who promised and fulfilled his promise. Whereas, those who didn’t fulfill theirs, we develop a kind of hatred and resentment for them.

Now here is where I’m driving at.

Just as those young children, God has given us a blank “promise card” and He has signed it (though with no definite time of fulfilling His Promises). He has told us to write whatever we want therein, and that He’ll do it for us.

Most of us misuse this opportunity; in that we refuse to checkup our “promise cards” to see the promises God had made and fulfilled, and in return, appreciate Him for them. We forget that if we thank Him for the fulfilled promises, he’ll be moved to fulfill the rest.

When last did you checkup your “promise card”? We only set our eyes on the unfulfilled promises, but we hardly look up to the fulfilled ones and express gratitude for their fulfillment. That’s why most promises are not fulfilled.

Another reason why our “promise cards” have too many unfulfilled promises, is because, like those children, we refuse to hold God by His promises. We refuse to “disturb” Him about His promises. We develop the attitude that “whenever God likes, He’ll do it for me”. Little did we know that just like our uncles, God needs to be reminded and kind of “pestered” persistently so that He can fulfill His promises on time. If you doubt that, then why did bible say we should pray without ceasing? Jesus also said “men ought always to pray and not to faint.” That implies that we need to be importunate in asking God to fulfill the promises He has signed in our “promise cards.

One other reason why we have too many unfulfilled promises is because we’ve written what we want and not what we necessarily need. God gives us what we need; not what we want. What we want most times are not necessarily what we need; so God will put the promises on hold until we really need them. I can remember vividly that those “promise cards” contained some items that children did not really need; and so no one would promise to get them for us. Some of those items include cars, phones and exuberant amounts of money. Meanwhile, other items like school bags, shoes, sandals and stationeries were usually promised and fulfilled.

Now ask yourself. That unfulfilled promise, do you really need it? That promotion you’ve always wanted, are you really mature enough to handle a bigger position? That financial breakthrough you’re looking forward to, can you really manage the little you have, before stretching yourself into a bigger financial state?

Look out for those unfulfilled promises; they might just be what you don’t need; you only want them.
One last reason is maybe because we are not His children; or we are not close to Him enough. Children don’t give their “promise cards” to strangers, and individuals don’t waste their resources on children who are strangers to them. This implies that God won’t fulfill promises of strangers; He won’t even sign their “promises cards”. Therefore, get to know God in your own religious capacity. Spend time with Him. Accept and acknowledge Him as God. If you know him, and He knows you, then expect the fulfillment of His promises.

Conclusively, as from today, let’s learn to tender our “promise cards” before God, day by day. Look up to the fulfilled ones, and appreciate Him for them; and also remind Him daily of the unfulfilled ones. Unlike those childhood “promise cards”, the one God gives us is never filled up. No one has ever got all the promises in His “promise card” fulfilled. We always have some things we need from God. Therefore till we die, we’ll always need God’s assistance.

As we present our “promise cards” to the creator, with thanksgiving for the ones fulfilled, I pray that as much as our promises are, fulfillment will accompany them. Amen.

FG Begins Feeding Of 5.5m Pupils In September

The Federal Government, yesterday, said it will commence its National Home Grown School Feeding Programme with 5.5 million pupils across the country by September

The National Programme Manager, Mrs Abimbola Adesanmi, disclosed this in Abeokuta during the opening of a two-day stakeholders’ workshop on the Ogun State Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

Adesanmi explained that the government has resolved to start the programme will accommodate pupils in Primary 1 to 3 at the outset, and would move to other classes as the nation’s resources improved.

She, however, explained that all the states of the federation, depending on their preparedness, would benefit from the social intervention programme. The state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, said about 200,000 in Primary 1 to 3 in 1,154 public primary schools in the state would benefit from the initiative. He added that over 3, 000 women, widows and jobless drawn from across the 236 wards in the state would be empowered serving as food vendors.

He said, “It’s a well-thought out programme because the unemployed would be engaged. All the value chains of the agricultural sector would be involved; poultry producers will sell; the meat sellers will sell their produce and the agriculture sector will generally get a boost. “Agricultural produce that often gets spoilt would now be mopped up and more money will come into the purse of the average farmer.”

Why I Made Peace With Amaechi – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State said on Wednesday he attended the peace meeting organised by the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, because of his commitment to peace and development of the state.
The IGP had on Tuesday in Abuja organised a peace meeting between Wike and the former governor of Rivers State, Mr Rotimi Amaechi. Amaechi is the current Minister of Transportation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had announced the postponement of the legislative rerun in the state earlier slated for Saturday following the burning of its office in Khana LGA. Wike told PDP supporters at the Rivers West Senatorial District rally in Degema LGA that his administration would implement the resolutions of the peace meeting.

Wike said the people must be allowed to elect representatives of their choice into the State and National Assemblies. “I was at the peace meeting because we love peace and want the state to move forward. I signed an undertaking on your behalf that we are prepared for INEC credible, free and fair elections. “It is not in our position to have crisis because we are the ones losing,” the governor added He pledged that the state government would partner with security agencies to ensure that peaceful elections were held in the state, adding that anybody who wanted the state to be set ablaze would be disappointed.

Wike expressed regret that some politicians were celebrating that the elections were postponed. He pointed out that his commitment that Rivers State should have representatives at the National Assembly was because the people of the state had been shut out on the deliberation of the Petroleum Industry Bill and other legislation.
The governor, however, called on the PDP members to remain vigilant while expecting the rerun elections. According to him, Nigerians know, the world knows that Rivers State is the PDP. So shall it be forever.

He pledged to ensure that development would spread across all local government areas of the state, adding that with the successes achieved in just one year, the remaining three years would witness more development.

Earlier, Deputy Governor, Ipalibo Harry Banigo, said the massive turnout at the rally was an indication that the people would always vote the PDP candidates. The peace meeting was brokered by the Police and the Department of State Services for the peaceful conduct of the rerun elections in Rivers State.

Read the Open Letter To Lagos State Governor

Your Excellency Sir, may you live long and achieve the stated aims and objective that will transform and transmute Lagos State in years to come.I write as a bonafide Citizen of Nigeria, I write as a true descendant of Oduduwa, I write as one who feel the pains of the people, I write as a political and social animal.
It is very sad to know about thongoing crises at IGBO-OLOMU area of ISAWO, IKORODU, LAGOS which has kept the people living in this environment in an abject ululation and fear of the unknown.
It is no more news that the IJAWS are the Enigma Terrorizing this Area in the course of their Egocentric Benefit which has cost some peoples life while some were forced to flee due to the disorderly outburst that greeted the area. The Lagos State Government as a matter of urgency and Exigency just now need to show more than a Complacent, more than a Lethargic, more than a Passive interest on the Security Imbroglio that wet into the IGBO-OLOMU area of ISAWO, IKORODU ,LAGOS.
The Security and Welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government as diaphanously spelt out in the 1999 constitution Section14(2b) which I believe to be the utmost priority to Lagos State Government.
I am pleading to you Sir, not on the ground that you are not doing well as the number one citizen of Lagos State, as the Father of the State but am pleading to you Sir on the inimical and exigent situation that is now a cankerworm in IGBO-OLOMU area of ISAWO. As a matter of Fact SIR, Fear of the unknown is now the order of day From ISAWO road to IGBO-OLOMU junction. And also, am very happy to also use this opportunity to crave your indulgence that the deadly sect have just move to the level of kidnapping people in demand for ransom in order to upgrade their financial system since the oil business is not yieiding much as expected.
Finally, I would implore the Lagos State Government not to take or handle the uncovered injustice orchestrated and animated by the IJAWS with Levity hand in order to safeguard life and property of the people before it get out of hand otherwise "KILE TO PA OSIKA,OHUN RERE ATI BAJE" I beg u once again my amiable Governor to make hay while the sun shine and strike while the iron is hot "so that the daughters of the Philistines can rejoice" your Excellency Sir, following your antecedent and pedigree we believe you can do it, we know you; we believe and assume you to be the political Moses that would take us to the Promise Land.

'I think he can play in 10 positions': Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hailed Fernandinho saying he believe the Brazilian can play in 10 positions.

The former Barcelona boss replaced Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad, and during his years at Bayern, he converted a few players from their original positions like David Alaba and Philipp Lahm.

Meanwhile, Fernandinho has mainly played in midfield for City since he joined them, but it seems Guardiola is looking to use him in different positions.

"I think Fernandinho can play in 10 positions," Guardiola said at a news conference.
"He has the quality to play wherever. He's a quick, fast player, so intelligent, aggressive and strong in the air.
"He could play at centre back. He has the quality to create good build-up play. We think he can play there.
"I like midfielders to play at centre back
because they can play good passes."
Guardiola is already loving life at City and has nothing but praise for his players' attitude.
"I want to say thank you so, so much to my players for the way they train, the way they try to understand me," he added.
"Every manager has their own ideas from the beginning to speak, to train, to know the way they want to live. That’s all.
"For the coaches it’s impossible to achieve a victory when the player doesn’t want it but that is not the case – they are great human beings and great players."

The Friend-Zone- Episode 4

The Friend-Zone

Episode 4

I turned around to see who was calling out my name.

It was a girl I was in love with in the past but the issue she had never made the relationship work out.

She had the genotype "AS". I was also AS. Her name is Sade. She was so much of a darling and I really cared for her. I lost touch with her when I moved off campus.

She was standing right in front of me. I gave a smile. We hugged & we had a conversation;

Sade: Opeyemi, how are you?. You just forgot me like that. I tried calling your number, it wasn't always going through.

Me: Honestly, you won't be offended. I sincerely apologize. I had issues with my network so I changed to a new number. You look good.

Sade: Awwwn. Thank you. You're such a darling. What are you doing here?

Me: I actually came with my friend for a friend's birthday party.

Sade: Oh!.. so you know Bukky?.
Me: Yeah, I think I'm about to... You know her?
Sade: She was my secondary school classmate

* My hands went cold..I didn't know what to say*.

Me: Ohhh..C..o.o.l.

Sade: Well, I came over to get something from her. Hope you've been served?.

Me: Yeah...I have..Thanks. .. we should have our numbers...(exchanges number) I should get going now. It's already getting late.

Sade: Yeah, you should. Make sure take care of yourself dear. Bye.

Me: Byee.

I got to my room that night tired. I was hungry. I had to eat the Pringles(dessert) I kept somewhere in case of emergencies. I slept off.

*******************

Sade: You must marry me by force.

Me: I can't, I'm in love with Bukola

Sade: I think your family members are ready to take you 6ft low.

Me: God forbid! .. I won't die. I can't marry you.

* Draws out a knife*

Me: Sade, please don't do this. I can't marry you.

Sade: You have to!..

* Moves closer, lifts her right hand up with a knife in it..*

Me: Nooooooooo!!!

****Wakes up*****

I was covered with sweat. It was a dream!. I was so scared and felt like praying.

I was about praying when I got a call. It was Sade.

This time around, I was so scared to my spine. I left it to ring thrice before picking the call.

Me: Hhheellooo.

Sade: Hey, Opeyemi. What's up.

Me: I'm good I guess... How about you?

Sade: I'm fine o. Yeah, i just called to say hello since it's been long I called you.

Me: Oh!... Thank you..

Do you mind if we talked later, I'm kinda busy now.

Sade: Okay then...Bye.

**I sighed.. it wasn't really a sigh of relief**.

I went to the kitchen to cook something and went out. 3hours later, Bukola called to thank me for honoring her invitation. I was glad she called and asked if she was going to be free next weekend to give her a treat.

She was glad I wanted to give her a treat..

I called one of my friends named Keji.

I knew him since I was in 100Level. He came over to where I was and we discussed.

Me: Guy, I had one terrible dream oh.

Keji: Chai, you and your yeye dream fa.

Me: Guy, this tin dey serious gan

Keji: Yan me, make I epp you.

****Narrates the dream***

Keji: (Laughs)... Joseph!!!... Dream stupid you sabi. Better forget, Sade na history na time make you write another Story.

Me: Well, I no put mind for am before.

Keji: May we go swim one of these days. E be like say your head don full.

Me: No shii na..(Laughs).

We had few bottles of beer to drink and we left. We were a little bit drunk I could tell.

Keji fell inside gutter times I can't count. We staggered and staggered until we got to a junction.

Some guys came out in black. They were with various weapons; sticks, axes, cutlasses, bottles.

My eyes cleared immediately while my friend was still acting funny.

A guy came at us and told us to drop whatever we had. They were Thieves not Night Guards!.

I knew we were in for trouble.

Keji started saying some funny words. Before I knew it, He was around on the ground. The guy slapped him. I was more scared than ever that I had to drop my shirt.

They let us alone and ran away. I thought that was all until someone hit my from behind and I went unconscious

WE CAN DO IT AGAIN,EVEN BETTER!!! -by Saka Temitope

It is no longer news, the intense frustration experienced by
Nigerians presently. While it is obvious that the government through
the media shows that all hands are on deck to ensure the alleviation
of the present economic condition. Concerned citizens, both the
lettered and the unlettered have expressed their grivances, from those
in the industrial or secondary quarters to the non-industrial or
primary quarters of the economy, ranging from
Bankers, stockbrockers, insurers, business men and women to farmers,
market women, artisans and even students. Many have purged their
emotions through various thought provoking articles and have proposed
feasible solution to our common problems.

This article was provoked by an article written by one Mr Eze
Onyekpere titled MR PRESIDENT ECONOMY RECESSION which was published
today (25TH July,2016) in punch newspaper
(http://punchng.com/mr-president-economy-recession/ )Mr Eze was able
to express his dissatisfaction over the present convoluted economic
quagmire in Nigeria and highlighted possible solutions to the
menace.Though exhaustive, his article was.I would like to add an
antidote to the poison injected into the Nigeria’s economy.

First and foremost, for comprehensive sake, our four major
economic problems go thus,
i. The plummeting  global oil price from about $116 to around $32 per barrel.
ii. The depletion of Nigeria’s foreign reserve from about $40b to about $26b.
iii. The ever highest level of inflation in  the history of nigeria’s
economy,which is presently 16.5% high.
iv. The Niger delta avenger crisis, which has led to the vandalism of
pipelines & threats to the lives and properties of oil workers and
associations (PENGASSAN & NUPENG).

The implication of these four cardinal economic problems have
relegated Nigeria’s economic outlook into recession. With this,
Nigeria’s economy has been held hostage and economic experts now seem
incompetent to pay the necessary ransom to salvage our economy.

To a logical and positive individual, who is aware of the
realities of today’s economy will applaud the government about her
action to diversify the revenue base of the economy. To the naive, let
me enlighten you on why it is the only alternative to salvage the
wrecking ship of our economy.

The Nigeria’s population, being the highest in Africa
,increased from about 179m in the 4th quarter of 2015 to about 184m in
the 1st quarter of 2016 and  a projection of about 189m was made for
1st quarter of  2017.Apparently, an arithmetic projection of about 5m
people annually.Consequently, the working population(number of people
of working age, willing and able to work) which increased from about
76m to 78m at the same time frame, this sends signal of about 2m
increase of unemployment level. Now,from the aforementioned cardinal
economic problems, I found it inconceivable that the current low
production in the oil sector couple with the ridiculous price it is
being sold, could b used to drive the economy of our dear nation to the
promise land.

Although, president Buhari promised to use only about 800m
from the oil sector to finance 2016 budget, but the truth is, the
meagre 800m out of 6.07trillion budget is unrealistic. The government
proposed executing the budget with revenue from non-oil sector. The
question; what substantive measure has government put in place or
proposed to put in place to yield huge revenue from agricultural
sector? really begs for an answer. To make government’s plans a dream
come through, it is important that the population which the government
intends to use as means to achieve agricultural revitalization are
well informed about the rudiments of agricultural activities. With
this,I propose that the government launch a massive orientation about
agriculture, ranging from fish farming, crop production, live stock
farming, forestry and lots more. This could only be done through
higher institution of learning, which is bedrock for acquisition of
practical knowledge. Funds should be released for research about
viable seedlings and products.Fishery, forestry, livestock and new areas
of agriculture are to be entensively explored. The spirit of farm
cultivation even at asmall scale for subsistence agriculture should be
imbued in the minds of Nigerians through government incentives.
Moreover, commercial agriculture should be encouraged through
incentive to farmers and direct involvement of government in
agriculture.
At the birth of our independence, agriculture was the oxygen
we breathed, though I wasn’t born then but thanks to history. Then,
agricultural product was major source of export and recorded over 60%
of Nigeria’s GDP. Food products were in abundant at affordable prices,
and about 90% of Nigeria population were fed with our home grown
products(ECONOMIC SURVEY OF NIGERIA by S.O OLAYIDE{1960-1975}).At that
period, the sector employed about 80% of the county’s working
population, and with our present population, we stand a better chance
to do better than we did in the first republic.
Having emphasised on agricultural orientation, The government
is required to possess the eagle eyes,to serve as as watch over her
expenditure into the agricultural sector. This will ensure
accountability,efficiency and a productive result.The present
anti-corruption tussle is laudable, and I hope if the government could
engage the agricultural sector in the like manner, our economy will be
back on track,hale and healthy.
