The All Progressives Congress (APC) has
surprisingly not made any official comment
regarding the verbal war that took place in
the Senate between Senator Dino Melaye
and his colleague, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Melaye allegedly threatened to beat up Mrs.
Tinubu and impregnate her during a closed
door session in the Upper chambers on Tuesday,
July 12, 2016.
According to Punch, a source who is a National
Working Committee member of the APC said the
party will not dabble into the matter because no
formal report has been brought before it.
He said what happened in the Senate between
the legislators is covered by legislative immunity.
Adding that “There are procedures for dealing
with issues of indiscipline which acts such as
what allegedly transpired between the two
distinguished senators could fall under.
“First, there has to be a formal complaint which
will be sent to the disciplinary committee to look
into.
“The committee will investigate and also invite
the person who is accused of committing an
offence. It is after we have heard from both the
petitioner and the respondent and a guilty verdict
is entered; that a recommendation for
disciplinary action can be made to the relevant
authorities.
“All these procedures have to be followed before
any action can be taken.
“As of today, to the best of my knowledge, there
has not been any petition before the party.”
Meanwhile, Senator Dino Melaye dared
supporters of the All Progressives Congress
(APC) National Leader,
Bola Tinubu, who told
him not to visit Lagos state.
