The Thankful Heart By Oyedotun Damilola Muees

THE THANKFUL HEART

Dele was at the bus station waiting for the commercial bus to come,  While waiting,  a blue Toyota 'muscle' packed beside him. Behold it was chuks, dele's friend who he had lost contact with from Undergraduate days. They both exchanged pleasantries and they went their separate ways.

Dele got home feeling all gloomy, he thought of chuks and how life has heavily smiled on him. His wife walked in noticing her husband's mood. She told him of her friend whose husband was opulent, but died along with her children in the plane crashed that happened days ago. Dele was feeling buoyant again, thanking his wife for her words of encouragement.

As humans, our needs are insatiable. Even when we have all we need, we still want more. Have you thought of your childhood friends who are now graduates but are wandering the street looking for a source of livelihood, have you been approached by the so-called corporate beggars who demand for N100 due to a reason best known to them, have you ever been to a grave yard to see the dates of people who passed so soon. I bet you have never take time to think of that. You should take a deep breath in and be thankful for seeing another day, for having clothes to put on, for having a steady breakfast and dinner, for having the strength to stand upright without any aid.

If i were you, I will stop whining about how things have turned and start appreciating the life you have, because where there's life there's hope.
