At the Beirut international festival, three films were banned.
The censored films were Palestinian
filmmaker Maha Haj’s “Personal
Affairs”, Syrian brothers Mohamad and
Ahmad Malas’s “World Cup” and Iranian
director Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s “The
Nights of Zayandeh-Rood”, festival
director Colette Naufal said.
A scene was asked by the lebanese security agency to be removed from the syrian movie, but the festival organisers refused.
Mr Naufal said that despite the fact that cinematic events were meant as a platform for freedom of expression, its a shame that political considerations is still able to interfere in art and culture.
