WhatsApp Smileys/Emojis And Their Deception- Ify Chuks(Jnr)

WhatsApp Smileys And Their Deception By Ify Chuks(Jnr)

A friend once talked about penning something about the aforementioned topic, apologies for stealing your topic brother @Adesida Oluwaseun alias XperalBee.

It’s a common practice to see most WhatsApp users insert one emoji or the another in the course of a conversation or better put ‘chatting’ as most young people would call it.
Truth is, most of these emojis either conceal one’s intended statement or they help in expatiating it. In this article, I’ll be shedding more light on the former.

A case of a young man who happened to be ‘chatting’ with his boss online, more blunt words were thrown from the sub-ordinate to the super-ordinate, but the sub-ordinate kept using totally contrasting emojis alongside with those words, thereby putting his boss in a state of doubt, the sub-ordinate in this case has clearly passed his message under the cover of some carefully selected emojis.

I’ll give another illustration, a friend of mine was ‘chatting’ with his dad, what would make a guy converse with his dad on WhatsApp if not because of money?. Although this is my own view, it stands to be modified.
Back to the story, their chat was actually about money, he needed money from his dad and towards the end of the chat, his dad replied him with “yes sir” with a happy emoji. My friend knew his dad had most likely played on his intelligence by replying that way, so he thought it wise to call his dad and converse about the issue formally.

The last illustration I’ll give is the case of two young people of the opposite sex conversing, now it is most likely these two young ones would deceive each other during the course of their chat, a good example of such deception is when the lady replies ‘LOL’ to the guy even when she doesn’t ‘laugh out loud’ for real, on the other side, she had successfully tricked the guy into believing into that she fell for his supposedly funny statement.

Ok, I’m done with this article and I would love to digress a little still keeping in touch with the last paragraph.
A quick advice to the guys: When such a lady uses the ‘LOL’ word so often during the course of your chats, watch it! ,you are not making her laugh, brother. She doesn’t really mean it, to her, it’s more like replying with ‘OK’.

Let these forms of deception stop, it’s high time we started keeping it real with one another.

  3. I initially thought you wanted to give the right meaning of some(if not all) of the emojis. That was what attracted me to come here. However, it's a nice writeup. More power to your elbow.
    God bless you.
