Christiano Ronaldo has been named the UEFA player of the year 2016. Ronaldo led Real Madrid to UEFA champions league glory earlier this year and was part of the Portugal team that won Euro 2016 on a trilling final against France.
The Real Madrid star beat off competitions from Atletico Madrid Antoine Griezmann and club teammate Gerath Bale.
