*YOUNG SHALL GROW CREW*
💥 *OSUN STATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS’ CAREER SHOW AND MUSIC COMPETITION*
Sometimes in year 2008, a young man, Dare Eluyemi noticed that a lot of young school leavers like him often face the problem of career training.
Most of them are endowed with natural talents that could help their future well-being but which remain impotent in them. The choice of career which could have helped them activate such talent is often wrongly chosen.
This background propelled the young man through the YOUNG SHALL GROW CREW NIGERIA an NGO founded by him to launch an initiative which he tagged secondary schools’ career show and music competition which is to build a critical mass of people who need encouragement on how to maximize their potentials and to guide them in their career path.
The initiative is to fill a vacuum in career counselling in schools by providing career coaching as a practical means of achieving the objectives of career counseling in the school curriculum.
*STRATEGY*
The Young Shall Grow Crew Nigeria through its structured team uses music as a pilot project to organize an annual career show and music competition among secondary schools students drawn from various secondary schools to catch them young. During the programme, other career identifications are carried out to discover other talents that could be trained and blended into full career path.
The programme has yielded the desired result as a lot of talents where discovered while many parents have had good testimonies given concerning their children who have participated in the programme. The successes recorded have encouraged widening of the scope.
The 4th edition of the programme in November 2011 at the center for Black Culture and International understanding Osogbo was used as part of the activities to mark Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s 1st anniversary in office and has since then gained government’s recognition and recommendation based on the results gotten up till date.
OUR MODEL PROPOSITION
However, this year’s edition is to further focus on the Junior Secondary School Students not forgetting the fact that Senior Secondary School Students would also be allowed to participate. This will enable us to catch them young before they choose their career.
Expected participants are 400students representatives, 150 youths and 50 guests.
For this year, Secondary Schools are invited to participate by presenting their school choir with not more than 15students to present a song of their choice for 7minutes to enable them compete with other schools. In addition, each school has been availed the privilege of coming along with not more than 5students whom they have discovered to have special talents.
