OAU SMARTBRAINS; HOW IT STARTED MY RESIGNATION; MY RETURN- Ify Chuks(Jnr) July 2013 precisely, I discovered that I had been added as an admin to the fan page of OAU SMARTBRAINS on Facebook. The convener happened to be Olubanjo Morenikeji(Mr Lee) who came up with the name of the brand. OAU SMARTBRAINS started out as an edu-consult aimed solely at gathering students for OAU's post-UTME. In August 2014, The programme kicked off officially & it eventually turned out to be a huge success. On resumption which also happened to be in late August 2014, we started mapping out plans for a much more better post-UTME programme for 2015. Whatsapp groups were created, releases were made & students were added to the Whatsapp groups. Online tutorials were taken up to the post-UTME period which happened to be August 2015. Our relationship with the sbites(as we usually refer to them) made most of them turn up for our one week tutorial,some of them even applied for our accommodation. Our one week tutorial ended on Friday which happened to be the post-UTME's eve,we also held our mock examinations that day and it played out successfully. After the programme, plans were being mapped out just like in 2014, the same steps were taken in a more effective manner to ensure this year turns out to be better than previous years. Along the line,the news agency came up this year, 11th January, 2016 to be precise. OAU SMARTBRAINS NEWS AGENCY became duly registered under ACJOAU. News releases under the name of the aforementioned brand were made broadcast in different whatsapp groups. From 2013 till now, we've had mishaps & misunderstandings which got resolved. The one which shook the brand(OAU SMARTBRAINS) Occurred On 26th April,2016 which signalled my resignation and that of the general Secretary of the edu-consult, Adesida Oluwaseun(Xperalbee). The resignation was due to a policy which I didn't see eye-to-eye with. From what I felt,the policy tended to withdraw previous benefits which I was a partaker of. I was surprised at the turn of events and decided to resign. My open resignation attracted lots of messages and calls from concerned friends-like-family who pleaded with me to return. I later bowed to the pressure and put a call through to Mr. Lee, he returned my call which lasted for nearly 30minutes. The new policy, I discovered afterwards would be favourable to everyone in the long run,this was after the CEO,Mr Lee explained better to me. At last, all was settled, my open apology letter was circulated online once again.
